Following the investigative actions carried out the day before at the premises of the KTR, FPAD, and SUR, all detained trade union leaders and activists have been released.
The search was conducted without a judicial warrant, on the basis of an order issued by the investigator of the investigative department of the linear division of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia at Vnukovo Airport, Captain M.V. Butov.
The grounds for the investigative actions were the initiation of a criminal case following a complaint by former members of FPAD. The complaint alleged irregularities by the union’s leadership concerning the use of membership fees in the amount of “no less than 52,000 roubles (approximately USD 550–600).”
At the same time, the order does not explain why the complaint concerning FPAD led to searches also being conducted at the KTR and other affiliated organisations.
In connection with these events, the International Labour Organization has sent an official request to the Government of the Russian Federation.
